You may be wondering what we have been working at the past few months, as we have been quite silent at least on the website. Well, if you have the chance to attend the AACR meeting this year (April 14-18 in Chicago, Illinois USA), you will get a chance to know more about it.
Prof. Enzo Medico (University of Torino, Candiolo Cancer Institute - IRCCS, Torino, Italy) will indeed have a short talk during the Session on "Patient-Derived Models of Cancer: Present and Future" held on Sunday April 15, 2018 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM.
The presentation entitled "The EurOPDX EDIReX project: Towards a European research infrastructure on patient-derived cancer models" (Abstract #985, 3:05 PM - 3:20 PM) will get you introduced to our EDIReX project, which just started on February 1 this year, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (Grant #731105). During this four-year project, we will aim at establishing a cutting-edge European infrastructure offering Trans-national Access to PDX resources to academic and industrial cancer researchers, including the distribution of cryopreserved samples to third parties, the structured biobanking of user-developed models, and the performance of drug efficacy studies. This will imply in particular the set-up of the EurOPDX public repository of models, and further work on establishing standards in the field.
The EDIReX project will be developed in parallel to the additional research activities of the EurOPDX Consortium. Full information will be available within a few months on the EurOPDX website, please come back to know everything about it!
